We dreamed of owning our own farm one day...to be able to enjoy the cria pronks at dusk, the morning greetings at the gate and experience the wonder of cria birth. That dream almost became a nightmare as we rushed to sell our house (in the middle of the housing crash) and move onto the farm just as winter was settling in. We now enjoy life with these wonderfull creatures in ways we never thought possible.
We have worked on a farm as boarders, learning everything we could about the care needed to have a healthy herd. We attended every seminar possible, visited with local and national farms and read everything we could find to help us understand as much about how to raise, breed, birth and maintain alpacas in Northern Ohio.
We have learned from our mistakes... Breeding for quality gray or black is not quite as easy as breeding two gray alpacas. We have made great progress and successes... our most recent addition to the farm is home grown and sure to be a 'purple ribbon' contender (see Miss Nikita Rose!).
Interested in breeding for gray? From the first gray alpacas we saw, we knew that we wanted to eventually be able to breed for gray. Every gray we looked at was out of our budget... but we kept the dream and started adding the building blocks whenever we could.
Adding a 5 generation black and gray dam, purchasing a dam bred to one of the nation's proven gray and producer and adding Snowmass Gray genetics to our breeding program. We have a wide selection of quality alpacas at great prices. From foundation building crias, to proven herdsires and a good selection of fiber alpacas (both male and female) at reasonable prices.
