About Lighthouse Alpacas - livestock Sales

   About Lighthouse Alpacas

Our small ranch started in 2002. We worked hard to put in fencing and make our existing buildings work for housing our alpaca herd. We still have a lot to do and will probably always be changing our facilities as the years go by. Now in 2013 our herd has expanded to 27 (4 agisted) so Larry has been busy expanding our facilities for them.

Working with our alpacas is a satisfying and relaxing project. We are still learning the nuances of keeping our alpacas healthy and active.

2011 was a very challenging year for us with 7 crias born on the farm. So we took a year off from breeding. We have watch these cria grow and are more than happy with their progress. 2012 we hope to breed a few and will look forward to this summer's crias.

Rugs, Classes, Pillows and Mats!
Sandy has been making rugs, pillows and mats for a number of years and is now offering classes to teach the craft. Locker-Hooking is an old craft that has evolved over the years. It was started in Australia as a way to utilize sheeps wool directly off the animal. Now we use our own fleece that has been processed into roving (before spinning). The finished products below have a softness that is unrivaled in rugs. The designs are pretty much limited only to what will go on the locker-hook canvas and what you can imagine in your mind. You can use natural colors or dye the fiber to the colors you want to work with. If you give these for gifts, they will be very much appreciated.
