WHEN YOU WANT THE BEST...rnrnThis bred female looks just like the vicunas of her native Chile. Her micron count is 17.1 and she is currently bred to a Paco-Vicuna with a fiber diameter of 20 microns. Her cria is due in Late June, 2009.rnrnTiara is fully trained and leads and loads easily. If you are looking for a way to produce finer fiber in your alpacas, the introduction of Paco-Vicunas is the fastest way to enhance production.rnrnOr, if you are thinking about raising pure Paco-Vicunas for their rarity and high priced fiber (which brings as much as $35.00 an ounce); Tiara is the best of her breed.rnrnTHE PACO-VICUNA AS A BREEDrnrnVicunas themselves are the endangered cousin of the alpaca. They roam the high Andes Mountains where they are considered a National Treasure because of their extremely fine, dense fiber. (Twelve & 14 microns are common.)Vicunas can not be exported (International Law) so the only way we can get the vicuna characteristics into our North American herds is to select individual alpacas that have the desired traits. By carefully selected breedings and importations of South American bloodlines, we can eventually develop a breed with the best traits of both the alpaca and the vicuna. These being a fine dense fiber that can be sheared yearly & the gentle disposition of a domesticated camelid. rnrnIf you buy Tiara, you are starting a step ahead of most P-V breeders. She came into this country in her mom's tummy & displays more vicuna characteristics than most of the Paco-Vicunas in the states. She is located at Llama Linda Ranch in West Colorado.
