Bluebird Farm Alpacas' Angelina is one of our Fall 2015 crias. Angelina is an adorable yearling whose July 2016 histogram is 17.1 microns. She is following in the footsteps of her prestigious dam and sire. We can't way to see how Angelina does in the show ring this fall!
Angelina's mother is Valura by Verticase. Valura is an amazing white bred female with solid conformation, elite fleece characteristics and gentle personality. Her 2012 micron backs up her elite fleece status with ADF of 15.8. Valura comes with a powerhouse of genetics with both sides of her pedigree producing Champions. Her sire, Quechua s Verticase, an Elite son of the late Snowmass Quechua, is a Champion Producer. Her dam, Amarula has the genetics of Snowmass Legacy Golden Boy.
The Elite Maximus is one of those few animals who possess instant name recognition in the alpaca world. His reputation as a herdsire, and before that, in the show ring, is second to none. His many offspring have carried his low micron count and incredibly dense buttery fleece to victory in the show ring.
The Elite Maximus started his illustrious show career when he was only 8 months old, winning Reserve COLOR CHAMPION at the 2002 Columbia Alpaca Breeders Association show. He then went on to win the JUDGE S CHOICE Award at the Canadian International Fleece Show and the 2006 AWE fleece show. The local, regional, national and international awards and ribbons started stacking up from there! The Elite Maximus eventually transitioned from the show ring to herdsire.
At 12 years old (2013), Maximus' histogram was STILL 19 micron! The list of The Elite Maximus offspring and their accomplishments is considerable. Of most striking recognition was the Prestige Auction headliner, Camilina, who sold for $55,000 as a 2nd Generation Color Champion and Judges Choice female huacaya. Also notable was Cambria, who sold for $20,000 and was 2011 International Alpaca Odyssey Best Head and highest score Walking Fleece winner.
As of 2013, offspring of The Elite Maximus have earned 25 Color Champion and Reserve Color Champion banners, 4 Judges Choice Awards, and 2 IAO Best Head awards. That s just for halter classes. In fleece classes you ll find a Supreme Champion, 6 Color and Reserve Champion banners, Best Crimp awards and Most Uniform Breeding Program awards.
Angelina is undoubtedly a young yearling who carries a powerhouse of genetics, which will be of great value to any breeding program!
